To follow the QbD paradigm and keep up with shorter timelines, process developers are evaluating different approaches to improve process development workflows and gain a better process understanding. Utilization of mechanistic modeling of unit operations, based on scientific and physical understanding of the process, is one of these approaches. Improved computational resources in the past decade has paved the way for development of improved molecular modeling tools.
Mechanistic modeling was also one of the most discussed topics at the recent HTPD conference in Toledo, Spain. An extended report from the conference has now been completed with 15 different presentations highlighted.
